As part of the “Green Belt Entrance Gate” project, we want to make the Schifflersgrund visible and tangible again. To this end, the historical site will be restored to its appearance in the mid-1980s. This requires the removal of non-historical vegetation and non-local buildings that were built after the opening of the border in the course of the museum’s construction. Among other things, the access road to the entrance building will also have to be removed and newly laid out elsewhere. Furthermore, some of the border barrier installations that were removed in the 1990s will be reconstructed. Ground markings will indicate the former course of the border. Finally, a roofed viewing platform will become the prelude to the historic site and at the same time the gateway to the Green Belt, which can be explored from here via the TOP border hiking trail Schifflersgrund.
