Remembering the experience of dictatorship, promoting historical awareness and strengthening democracy.

The Schifflersgrund Border Museum is a historical place of learning for democracy education. Our educational programs focus on the history of German dictatorship and division after 1945 as well as German unity and the transformation since 1989/90. Our educational program is aimed at all age groups and learning levels. Depending on the size of the group, the time available and the desired focus of the content, we offer various educational formats.

On the "Great Border Hike", we hike along the entire TOP border hiking trail Schifflersgrund. The trail is a total of 10.8 kilometers long and leads through the former Hessian-Thuringian border region.

The "Middle Border Hike" leads along the TOP border hiking trail Schifflersgrund from the border museum to the two former border villages of Sickenberg and Asbach.
