Our new permanent exhibition is open
After almost three years of construction, the new permanent exhibition is now open and can be visited immediately.

Due to renovation work, the Werra Bridge in Bad Sooden-Allendorf has been partially closed since October 15, 2024.

The border museum Schifflersgrund ist die älteste Gedenkstätte ihrer Art an der former innergerman border. Alreadysince 1991 the History of the German division. Contemporary witnesses, volunteers and employees work closely together.
Volunteering and Commitment have been playing since the founding of the Border Museum Schifflersgrund a major role. The Arbeitskreis Grenzinformation e.V. Coordinated as Support association the volunteershelpers and is happy about donations and new members.
At the Schifflersgrund Border Museum, we work closely with contemporary witnesses. They talk to us about their experiences and memories of the division of Germany. They support us in the archive as witnesses and experts. We also film them as part of the “Eyewitness Memorial” project and interview them about their biographies.
